Press Release - 18th March 2025
Leading print finishing equipment manufacturer, A B Graphic International (ABG), has seen an impressive uplift of 239% in their retrofit sales. With an extensive range of retrofits available, the company completed over 170 retrofit installations in 2024 alone, demonstrating the strong demand for its upgrade solutions and the trust customers have in ABG products.
ABG's portfolio of machines is designed to be retrofittable, offering customers the flexibility to upgrade their existing equipment, from adding new physical modules to enhancing software and beyond. With many of ABG’s machines being modular, they can be easily reconfigured to best suit the evolving needs of businesses. Whether enhancing production capacity, improving efficiency, or incorporating the latest technological advancements, ABG's retrofits ensure that customers can maximise their investment in ABG equipment with bespoke improvements.
One of the most popular retrofits is the Flat Bed Foil Module, which is available in two options: the 25-tonne and 50-tonne Big Foot units. These units can be used for foiling, embossing, or a combination of both, creating striking effects and premium finishing. Also popular in the embellishment arena is the High-Speed Screen Module, enhancing labels and packaging with a range of varnish effects, ideal for transforming products with not just eye-catching matt and gloss varnishes but tactile finishes too.
Among ABG’s most in-demand retrofits is the re-register lamination upgrade: this allows customers to produce multi-layered labels for peel and reveal products by laminating a pre-printed web to the main web in perfect register, illustrating the versatility of the retrofit upgrades on offer from ABG. From a software perspective, ABG Connect is a key upgrade aiming to revolutionise automation in the labels and packaging market. This solution provides unrivalled workflow efficiency by enabling automatic job set-up and changeover in just a few milliseconds, with minimal operator intervention, therefore improving production efficiencies.
ABG solutions allow customers to build the configuration that suits their business needs right from the start, however, as production requirements change, ABG’s retrofit offering means customers' machines can be modified, ensuring businesses can always deliver the best product for their end customers in the most efficient way.
This offering is supported by the company’s specialist retrofit team, ensuring a smooth and tailored process from the initial sale consultation and design, through to software and manufacture. ABG’s worldwide network of highly experienced service engineers then takes over, ensuring seamless installation and aftercare for all machines and retrofits. This commitment guarantees that customers achieve the highest productivity and efficiency levels from their ABG machinery, with very little downtime, both today and long into the future.
Peter Redmond, ABG’s director of service, said: “Demand for ABG’s retrofit offering has risen over the last few years, allowing our customers to adapt their machinery as their business grows and changes. We’re proud to have such a dedicated team of engineers, trusted by our customers to enhance their production capabilities.”
