About Us
Currie & Southward Printers Engineers was established in 1949 to deliver engineering maintenance services to Melbourne printers. In 1955, the late William Currie took sole control of the company and under his direction it flourished to become the strong and respected firm, Currie & Company.
Changing names to Currie Group in 2008, the company grows from strength to strength under the management of owner and Executive Chairman, David Currie. Over his 52 years with Currie Group, David has sold printing presses and finishing equipment for most of his life, and has pioneered lifelong engagement with various manufacturers.
David has navigated the company on a journey of digital transformation, placing Currie Group as the premier high-end provider of digital printing technology, and representing a market leading range of equipment and consumable brands.
Today, Currie Group continues as a fully Australian owned and operated company. The Company has maintained its focus on delivering technical service and support of the highest possible standard, while also distributing a range of quality equipment and consumables to the Australian and New Zealand printing industry.
Currie Group has a long tradition in technical training and development, supporting an extensive apprenticeship and traineeship program. Management ensures staff are kept up to date with the latest developments in technology by arranging regular visits to overseas manufacturers for intensive training programs.
The Australian printing industry benefits from the contribution of Currie Group staff and resources through the Company's affiliation with trade shows, professional associations and industry organisations. The Company also supports several printing colleges around Australia with installations of state-of-the-art equipment for use by students.
The Company boasts an impressive range of products spanning the full operation of today's modern industry. Machinery sourced from Israel, Japan, Europe and North America, offers Australian and New Zealand printers the latest technology available. The long term relationships with several manufacturers, including ECRM and Horizon, go back to the early days of Currie & Company, and form the backbone of the Company's success and reputation in the Australian and New Zealand marketplaces.
